Flexibility Means Fun

The most fun part of outdoor recreation is the spontaneity. You don't need to have a fixed itinerary to have a great time. Of course, having a basic plan is necessary in order for you to have a smooth-flowing vacation; being totally unprepared will just leave you not knowing what to do with the time on your hands. However, be flexible about your schedule. You may have many great activities planned for your trip, but weather conditions, illness or other unforeseen circumstances may affect your plans. Don’t be so rigid that you take the fun out of it.

Of all the factors that can change your plans during an outdoor trip, weather has the most influential effect. Check the extended weather forecast for your destination so you can prepare for any changes that can occur, like bringing the appropriate supplies. For example, if slight drizzle is threatening to fall on your lunchtime picnic and you've been informed beforehand, you can get by with an umbrella for shelter and still have the party right on schedule.

If you don't want to be burdened with making sudden changes in case the weather turns inconsistent, you can join outdoor programs instead where trips change accordingly with the weather. You just sign up for a new trip if the original one gets canceled. A few days' notice is usually put up prior a change so you can make the necessary adjustments. Aside from this convenience, outdoor programs also let you meet new people who are into outdoor stuff just as you are. If any unforeseen circumstance does occur, it'll be easier to adapt to it because you're with people who can help you adjust to the situation. You also have them to share expenses, work, and fun with, making the experience more memorable than you can imagine.
